Furtography Hashtags

The strategic use of hashtags determines who gets your photos seen by the right audience.

The more specific and targeted your hashtag are the better the chance of your photos being seen by your target audience.

1 Location Based

Hashtags based on your location such as #BayAreaDogs #SFDogs, #OaklandDogs will have a lot less competition than a broad hashtag like #DogsofInstagram #DogLover or regional like #Calidogs

Here are 4 categories of hashtags to consider adding your post. Remember you can add up to 30 hashtags per post.

2 Breed of Dog

Start by searching for your breed’s hashtag for example #frenchbulldogs. Then take a look at the “Related Hashtags” bar and the tags other owners are using.

For example, here are variations of French Bull Dog:

#FrenchBulldog #Frenchie #Frenchies #FrenchBulldogs #FrenchBulldogsOfInstagram #FrenchieOfTheDay #FrenchieGram #FrenchieLife #Bulldog #FrenchBully #FrenchieLove #FrenchiesOfInstagram #TheFrenchiePost #Frenchy #FrenchieSociety #French_Bulldog

If your dog is breed unknown or a wild mixthere is a hashtag like#mixedbreed, #muttbog, #ilovemymutt. And if your dog has the face that only a mother could love, check out these hashtag #uglydog and #gremlin

3 Weekly Hashtags

This category can be a little crowded. For some reason there are more dog related hashtags for Wednesday than other days of the week. Maybe it is because Wednesday is hump day and people need a distraction.
